Ways to Give to EHLT

Land conservation is critical to the health of our soil, air, water, and plant and animal resources, and to the well-being of our community now and in the future. Your donation helps conserve this vital resource and entitles you to member emails, invitations to special member-only events, and a discounted subscription to estuary magazine

Give Directly 

​Use ​our online donation form to give directly to East Haddam Land Trust via credit card or GooglePay.
You may designate your donation to our General Fund or to one of our other funds explained below.

Corporate Matching Gift Programs

If your employer offers a matching gift program, you may be able to double your donation to EHLT!
Each employer will differ in their requirements, so check with yours for all the details. EHLT Tax ID #06-1006484.

Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)

When choosing to designate East Haddam Land Trust for your RMD from a retirement account you will need our tax ID #06-1006484. Please email treasurer@ehlt.org with any questions.

Planned Giving: Leave EHLT in your will

With the guidance of an estate-planning attorney familiar with local estate law you can:
  • Designate specific assets for your family and friends.
  • Bequeath or donate assets to charities or causes.
  • Donate or bequeath all or a portion of your land or assets.
  • Establish a contingent bequest in case you outlive other heirs or a portion of the remainder of your estate after providing for family and friends.

Legacy Matching Campaign​

If you have named East Haddam Land Trust, Inc. in your will or as a beneficiary in another way, you can leverage an additional matching donation by filling out a simple form and returning it to us.

When giving, you may designate your donation to the following funds:

The General Fund

This fund provides EHLT with the most flexibility, allowing our Board of Directors to distribute funds to meet current needs.
​​

The Anita Ballek/East Haddam Land Trust Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is awarded annually to one graduating senior from Nathan Hale-Ray High School who has demonstrated civic-mindedness and submits an essay on why he or she intends to pursue environmental studies. The Stewardship Fund

This covers costs related to blazing and maintaining trails, preserve boundary maintenance, building footbridges over stream crossings, creating preserve parking areas, removing diseased and fallen trees, signage, invasive plant removal and control, and other work necessary for managing our preserves.

The Land Acquisition Fund

This fund is specifically for EHLT land purchases and conservation easements, to support Town of East Haddam Open Space purchases and, occasionally, support the purchase of other key parcels that preserve portions of the Connecticut River Valley. 
​​

The Calendar Fund

This fund offsets the production costs of the East Haddam Land Trust Photo Calendar, mailed to members and distributed locally, free of charge.​
​
